Babes in Toyland

This beautiful operetta by Victor Herbert and Glenn MacDonough is the latest collaboration between the Theatre, Dance, and Performance Technology program and the Department of Music. Babes in Toyland is a coming of age story where the peaks of comedy and valleys of tragedy meet in an in-between land: A dark forest where the highest of stakes hinge on life and death. The story includes heroines, heroes, villains, an evil mastermind, spiders, and familiar characters from the Mother Goose nursery rhymes of your past. In collaboration with Tristan Cupp, Dayton’s premier puppeteer, this story celebrates the innocence of childhood while engaging deeper themes of adulthood.
